Tottenham target Maghnes Akliouche likely to stay at Monaco

    Published on

Maghnes Akliouche (23) was the one player that everyone expected to leave AS Monaco this summer. However, a move has yet to come to fruition. The France youth international’s €70m price tag has put off some suitors, and so he may not depart, as was expected, according to a report from L’Équipe.

Speaking last week in a press conference attended by Get French Football News, CEO Thiago Scuro said that the club’s “ambition” was to retain Akliouche. That is now the most likely scenario, as per L’Équipe. Paris Saint-Germain had once shown an interest, however, their interest has now cooled. Manchester City were once an option, too, but they signed Rayan Cherki earlier in the window.

Bayer Leverkusen held a strong interest, but cannot meet Monaco’s demands, whilst Inter Milan have not gone any further with the interest that they expressed earlier this month. The Independent revealed an interest from Tottenham Hotspur earlier this week. It remains to be seen whether they follow that up.
