Team India star Pratika Rawal has confirmed that she will receive her World Cup 2025 medal, as reported by News18. The batter revealed that it was made possible by ICC Chairman Jay Shah’s assistance.

During India’s game against Bangladesh in the group stage, Pratika sustained a severe ankle injury, which ruled her out of the semifinal and the final. Shafali Verma replaced her in the squad. After the Women in Blue won the World Cup 2025, all 15 members of the squad received medals. However, Pratika was not given a medal as she was not a part of the squad in the final.

When the Women in Blue met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu after the historic triumph, Pratika posed with a medal given to her by the support staff. She revealed that Jay Shah promised to make arrangements for her to receive the medal soon.

“Jay Shah texted our manager that I want to make arrangements to get medal for Pratika. So, finally, I now do have my own medal. The first time I opened it up (medal given to her by support staff) and, I looked towards it, I was almost in tears. I’m not a person who cries a lot but that emotion was real, that feeling of join us,” she was quoted as saying.

According to the Team India star, Jay Shah intervened and had a conversation with the ICC. She added that the medal would take some time to arrive and will reach her soon.

While she may have missed the semifinal and final, Pratika Rawal played a major role in helping India reach the knockout stages, from where they went on to win the World Cup 2025.

Despite missing two games, she ended as the fourth-highest run-getter of the tournament. She made 308 runs from six innings at an average of 51.33 with a hundred and a half-century.

The Women in Blue revived their campaign with a much-needed victory over New Zealand after three consecutive defeats. Against the White Ferns, Pratika scored 122 runs off 134 balls with 13 fours and two maximums.
