We will preview every player on the Cardinals roster leading up to training camp. This is about OL Josh Fryar.
The Arizona Cardinals report to training camp on July 22 and begin the process of preparing for the regular season, forming the roster and determining starting jobs and roles on the team.
Leading up to the start of camp, we will take a look at every player on the offseason roster, their background, their contract, their play in 2024, questions they face and their roster outlook.
Next up is offensive lineman Josh Fryar.
Josh Fryar background, 2024 season
Fryar is an NFL rookie. He went undrafted and signed with the Cardinals after the 2025 NFL draft. He played collegiately at Ohio State.
Fryar played five seasons for Ohio State, appearing in 54 games, starting 30. He was the Buckeyes’ starting right tackle in 2023-2024. He was the only Ohio State offensive lineman to play in every game last season when the Buckeyes won the national championship.
He earned honorable mention all-Big Ten honors last season.
Josh Fryar 2025 contract details, cap hit
Fryar signed a three-year deal with the Cardinals worth $3 million. He received a $35,000 signing bonus and will make $840,000 in salary, with $234,000 of it guaranteed.
Questions he faces, roster outlook
Fryar faces the same challenges all rookies do, but as an undrafted rookie, he has to do it from the back of the depth chart. Left tackle Paris Johnson, who was also teammates with Fryar at Ohio State, believes Fryar will turn into a longtime NFL pro.
But as for this year, it’s going to be hard to make the 53-man roster, making him a long shot. However, he is a likely lock for the practice squad because the $234,000 in guaranteed salary equals what a player makes for 18 weeks on the practice squad.
