Apple revealed its latest lineup, iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and the super-light iPhone Air, in a flashy September 9th event called “Awe Dropping.” New cameras, an A19 chip, brighter ProMotion displays, and better battery were all the rage. But guess who was not impressed?

Apple drops iPhone 17, the internet blinks… then Samsung strikes
Samsung, the brand instantly brought the heat on X (formerly Twitter) by throwing major shade Apple’s way. And not with a fresh roast, nope, they went back to the archives and dragged out a 2022 tweet that read, “Let us know it when it folds.”
#iCant believe this is still relevant. 💀 https://t.co/s6SFaLTRSJ

Quoting it with a snarky new line, “#iCant believe this is still relevant,” Samsung fired a direct shot at Apple’s still-foldless iPhones. Samsung’s #iCant roast for the new Apple iPhone17 turns social media into a clapback arena It did not stop there. Samsung has been peppering its reactions to Apple’s event with one spicy hashtag: #iCant.
48MP x 3 still doesn’t equal 200MP 🙃 #iCant

When tech YouTuber Marques Brownlee posted about the event, Samsung replied with: “Actual innovation > hype #iCant” — a not-so-subtle jab at Apple’s “new” features that Samsung fans claim already exist in Galaxy devices.
Internet reactions were split, and hilarious
The comment section became a war zone. Some users clapped back at Samsung, saying things like, “Stay relevant for the next decade,” and “Even we can’t believe folding phones are still a thing.”
Oh Apple…3x48MP is still less than 200MP. And @SamsungMobileUS has offered 8k video for 5+ years. Also, #iCant with that weird camera plateau thing. These are “upgrades”?!! #SamsungCan #SamsungPartner #TeamSamsung pic.twitter.com/OGJMoDMvzY

Others defended Samsung’s sass, praising the Galaxy Fold and Galaxy Z series for pushing boundaries while Apple plays it safe. And someone really went for blood with, “Remember when y’all said you would not remove headphone jacks? Where are they now?”

Meanwhile, Apple fans just want to talk specs
Apple’s VP of iPhone product marketing, Kaiann Drance, hyped up iPhone 17 as the “most useful iPhone yet,” touting the Dual Fusion 48MP camera, all-day battery, and next-gen scratch resistance. The camera also features Center Stage, which automatically follows your face, a cool upgrade for FaceTime addicts.

Samsung may not have launched a phone this week, but it definitely launched a meme war. Whether you are #TeamApple or #TeamSamsung, one thing is clear: the drama is better than the keynote.
Now if Apple drops a foldable next year? Samsung better start prepping new material.
