HYDERABAD: Eyewear major Lenskart is investing Rs 1500 crore in setting up what is touted as the world’s largest eyewear manufacturing factory in Telangana.
The facility will make eyewear, lenses, sunglasses as well as accessories and other products catering to the India as well as exports to other markets in South East Asia and the Middle East, Lenskart cofounder Amit Chaudhary said here on Sunday.
Speaking after inking an MoU with the Telangana govt on Sunday at an event to mark one year celebration of the Revanth Reddy led govt, Chaudhary said the company explored multiple states before finally zeroing in on Telangana as they were impressed by the Telangana speed and ease of doing business.
The MoU was inked in the presence of Telangana industries and IT minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu.
The facility will come up at Fab City where land has already been identified and will be handed over to the company this week, TGIIC VC & MD Vishnu Vardhan Reddy said.
He said the company may also later set up and R&D facility in the state.
The plant will create around 2100 jobs and is part of four MoUs worth nearly Rs 7600 crore inked on Sunday with a potential to generate around 5200 new jobs.
