Amid LoC tensions, Indian firms are adopting safety steps

India’s top corporations and multinational firms have begun rolling out safety protocols for employees, as tensions with Pakistan escalate following recent military engagements. According to a report by Moneycontrol.com, many companies have issued advisories urging employees in northern and western India to work from home, while manufacturing units are implementing contingency measures to maintain operations.

Firms with plants in border states like Punjab, Rajasthan, and parts of Gujarat are issuing dos and don’ts for staff and bolstering in-plant safety. “The services sector has largely advised remote work in northern regions, but shutting down production units entirely is not an option at this point,” a source told Moneycontrol.

Companies are also providing safe transportation for essential staff who must be physically present and postponing both international and domestic travel for senior executives, particularly to facilities in vulnerable areas. Management teams have been directed to follow all government security guidelines, including conducting mock evacuation drills with critical personnel.

Key industries such as pharmaceuticals and food and beverages, which have a heavy presence in border states, are particularly active in reinforcing safety protocols. Among the companies that have issued such advisories are American Express, Panasonic India, and AXA Global Business Services, Moneycontrol reported.

“While operations are currently stable, companies are in a wait-and-watch mode. Any further escalation may start affecting supply chains,” another source told the publication.

The corporate measures follow India’s launch of Operation Sindoor, targeting nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in retaliation for the April 22 terror strike in Pahalgam that killed 26 people. On May 8, Pakistan launched a series of missile and drone attacks on Indian cities, all of which were intercepted, prompting cities near the border to activate blackout and air raid measures.
